Perspective – Common Sense vs Sixth Sense
October is the month that highlights (even celebrates) fear. I've decided to reflect on safety.
Online dating apps and sites all include a Safety Tips section, which daters, in my opinion, should follow without exception. They are instructions based on expert industry insider knowledge.
Domestic partnership may not come with a literal instruction manual, but "danger" typically falls under either category of abuse or infidelity. Individuals define these differently (physical, emotional, vocational, financial, etc).
Though I believe physical danger is always a reason to get to safety immediately, I'm not here to define, but to encourage that we each do consider what we believe is safe or not.
We determine reality with two modes: gleaning information through our senses or intuition. Most people use one or the other more in their discernment of what is safe or not.
Case in point: A friend of mine met a woman he found irresistible through an online site. He gushed about how amazing she was (working with inmates on death row and traveling all over the world with charitable organizations). She was a trailblazer.
He showed me her online profile and I couldn't put my finger on it exactly, but I got a stark feeling of "alarm" and told him.
He said he didn't care, he was too into her.
Later into their relationship, he said while everyone thought they were the perfect couple, she daily raged at him for small actions that she interpreted jealously. Though she was in therapy, she couldn't control her outbursts. He sensed she wasn't close to resolving this impulsive behavior, so he broke up with her.
Fortunately, he found someone more easy-going and accepting.
Practical Tactics – Intuition or Concrete Discernment
My gut told me what he learned with sensory information.
This "Case in Point" demonstrates how a few things work both while mate-seeking and in-partnership dynamic.
Online Relationship Search:
Image. video, and text, even in the age of AI creation, can raise awareness in our intuition that something doesn't jive. And a person who perceives more through observation would notice concerning lines in the text or facial expressions/body language in video and images.
In Real-Life Partnership:
The same can happen "IRL" (in real life). You may feel something doesn't set right with the way your date or partner is acting. Or, you might notice conflicting messages being sent.
You can learn to develop strong, accurate judgment through your own sensory or intuitive acumen. Prioritize safety in partnership. Your safety is imperative to all you are and contribute to the world.
